My Family Story
My dad was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2023 and has been battling cancer since. From originally being pre-leukemia (MLS), to watching this cancer rapidly increase to AML, the impact of having an immediate family member battling this aggressive and often times confusing cancer can feel uncertain.
From a failed bone marrow transplant, to watching him embark on multiple chemo trials that didn't stick, the journey can sometimes feel like it's never ending. He's currently part of a new trial at a cancer center in hopes to help give him a more comfortable life, and to help provide research to those who may be diagnosed with an aggressive form of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).
The impact cancer has not only on a family, but the patient themselves, which inspired me to bring awareness to Leukemia and all blood cancers. For the entire month of September, which is Leukemia Awareness Month, 10% of each book sale will be donated to Blood Cancer United (formally known as Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
If you're unable to purchase or make a donation, I highly suggest if you're able to donate blood to do so. Blood patients rely on transfusions, like my dad, to keep them alive. Find a Red Cross blood donation center near you here.
